About Alcoholics Anonymous

Alcoholics Anonymous is a worldwide fellowship of people who help each other to stay sober. They offer the same help to anyone who has a drinking problem and wants to do something about it. Since we are all alcoholics ourselves, we have a special understanding of each other. We know what the illness feels like and we have learned how to recover from it in A.A.

If you seem to be having trouble with your drinking, or if your drinking has reached the point of where it worries you, you may be interested to know something about Alcoholics Anonymous and the AA programme of recovery from alcoholism.

Do you think you’re different?

Speaks to newcomers who may wonder how A.A. can work for someone “different”— we tell how the A.A. program has worked for us.

Women in AA

Twelve alcoholic women from a range of backgrounds — a U.S. Marine, a stay-at-home mom, a teenage runaway — share how they stopped drinking and found recovery in A.A. Touching on many of the themes common among still-suffering female alcoholics, their stories show how Alcoholics Anonymous helped these women find a new way of life.

Al-Anon

A.A. is made up of alcoholics helping alcoholics recover. Al-Anon Family Groups is another Twelve Step program of recovery. Their members are made up of people concerned with someone’s drinking problem. In Al-Anon members have the opportunity to learn from the experiences of others who have faced similar problems.
